Year 2

In Year 2, we are on an exciting learning journey, exploring new ideas and developing our skills in fun and engaging ways. Our Reading Corner is a cosy space where we immerse ourselves in stories, discover new worlds, and learn about fascinating topics. We love choosing our own books, sharing stories with friends, and becoming more confident readers every day.

We write for various purposes, from creative stories to informative reports and heartfelt letters. It’s amazing to see how our writing skills are blossoming as we express ourselves in different ways and become independent writers. In Maths, we tackle puzzles, explore number patterns, and solve real-world problems. Hands-on activities, games, and challenges make Maths so much fun, helping us become confident mathematicians who love to explore and experiment with numbers.

Our PE Day is Thursday, and children should come to school on this day in their school PE kit.

Art in Year 2 is full of imagination and creativity! We have been exploring Still Life Art by studying the works of famous artists and creating our own unique pieces using different materials and techniques.

We have been learning about famous people in History who have changed the world. Their incredible stories inspire us to dream big and make a positive impact. We have explored the adventures of Neil Armstrong, the first person to walk on the moon, and Christopher Columbus, who bravely sailed into the unknown. We have also learned about remarkable activists like Rosa Parks, whose courage sparked change in the fight for equality, and Emmeline Pankhurst, who championed women’s right to vote. Their bravery and determination motivate us to believe in ourselves and strive to make a difference.

In Year 2, we grow not only as learners but also as kind, thoughtful, and curious individuals. We love working together, supporting each other, and celebrating our successes. Every day is an opportunity to learn, laugh, and grow, and we are excited to see where our learning journey will take us next!
