At Knowsley Village Primary School we seek to provide a high-quality music education which engages and inspires pupils to develop both a love for music as listeners and skills as musicians. Our music curriculum is carefully planned to develop self-confidence, creativity and a sense of achievement.
Our children have weekly music lessons which involve a variety of activities which are repeated and built-upon, week by week, year by year. We use the Charanga music school scheme which meets all of the curricular requirements of the National Curriculum for England. Charanga is a multi-award winning program for schools that provides a step-by-step approach to teaching music across Primary Schools.
At Knowsley Village we also offer after-school keyboard lessons from the Music Squad and school is supported weekly via the LA Performing Arts Team, who provide high-quality, engaging singing lessons. Of course, music is central to building a sense of community and our school leaders use music and singing in assemblies regularly. Additionally, every Christmas, children across the school produce wonderful musical performances in their key stages and our Year 6 Lions star in their very own ‘graduation’ musical in July, which is always a highlight of the year.
